The Annual Jewish Book Festival will take place for the 6th time on March, 18th 2012. In 2006, the festival was initiated by the Jewish community of Duisburg in cooperation with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Regional Association of Jewish Communities of North Rhine.
As the largest festival of Jewish literature in Germany, we invite renowned authors, scholars, rabbis, and journalists to present and to discuss their latest works through readings and workshops.
We are driven by our desire to present Jewish literature in all mediums to festival participants, be it through novels, essays, poetry, scholarly pieces or religious writings. During the daylong event, we explore a comprehensive range of literary themes in different languages where Jewish literature is produced. Literary reflection focuses on the following questions- What exactly is Jewish literature? Does it have distinctive features that we can identify? And if so, what are they? We strive to offer an excellent quality of education and meaningful discourse.
The Duisburg Jewish community center, located at Duisburg’s inner harbor, is in a building whose architectural structure resembles an open book. The atmosphere of the building provides an ideal and yet thought provoking venue for our annual Jewish Book Festival.
We are delighted to offer you an entire day of Jewish literature and learning at the 6th Annual Jewish Book Festival in the Duisburg Jewish community on March, 18th 2012.
